Our plant named Joy!
The first piece that I included in Journey into Trust is about our plant named Joy. We don’t have cars with names or other plants with names, just Joy. Several years ago, my daughter was really into plants and had her heart set on getting a Fiddle Leaf Fig plant for her birthday, I believe it was. But she wanted some other things too, so by the time we got to the nursery to shop for plants, the budget for a large, expensive plant had dwindled. We found one she liked, but just couldn’t afford it. I think she was around 10 or 11 when all this happened and she handled it all really, really well. (This was after much research had gone into how to care for this rather interesting plant!)
The very next day, I was grocery shopping at Aldi, and what did they happen to have —yep, fiddle leaf figs on sale— cheap! I scooped one up and brought it home to Corrie, sharing with her that this was God’s gift to her. We named her Joy, and she’s grown up in our home ever since.
