RELEASE
Release your grasp and what you held so tightly falls to the earth
Every past trauma filtered through the truth of God’s Word is transformable
Let His love water your “valley of the shadow of death” to make it bloom.
Exactly what you need will be granted in the gracious flow of His Presence.
Apple of His eye, always His treasured one, accepted in the Beloved, held.
Slowly the fiery pain and grief ebb away, washed by the tide of His faithfulness.
Exactly what you need, He finds a way to impart when you make room for it, hands open and upturned.

You Will
I choose to tuck myself
into Your cove
Your wings
Your care.
I choose to be immersed in
Your peace
Your bounty
Your wise ways.
I choose to rest
to wait
to cease striving,
believing
You will make
Your way of deliverance
apparent.
You will wash away my angst—
my uncertainty—
my fear.
You will not let the enormous,
curled, heavy waves
crash in on me,
crush me,
or drive me under.
You will shelter me
and teach me—
to surf through this tunnel.
You have a plan
to let the power of these swells
push me to the greatest ride of my life…
“High and lifted up above the heads
of my enemies.”
(Psalm 27:6 NASB1995)

Loveliness Abounds
It is late summer,
the sun is mellow; the day perfect.
The trees are alive, buzzing in unison
as if a cicada concert master is conducting
the ebb and flow of sound.
The Black-eyed Susans bless me
with their lasting golden petals.
Even the fading purple coneflowers bring me joy.
Loveliness abounds.
A bird chirps to its friend in the distance.
The friend clamors back.
Only they know the stories they tell.
Cobalt blue fills the expanse above.
Its wispy white companions are suspended in time,
and not a breath of wind moves them.
The sun is growing in its late afternoon strength.
Its warmth caresses my hair, ear, face and neck,
all comforting reminders of my Creator’s care for me.
His glory touches everything in my sight,
and thankfulness is mine.

excerpt from Journey into Trust
Creed
Creator, Eternal One, Covenant Keeper
Before light broke into the darkness,
before sea or land, air or life,
Adam and Eve,
the Garden or the Fall,
You Are.
Majestic, Holy, Merciful One
Before the cancer of sin
eroded innocence
You walked in the garden
in the cool of the day.
Protector, Accepter, Comforter
Before the eternal seal
could lock us in perpetual sin,
You blocked the way
with flaming sword.
Worthy of Worship, Heart Seer, Innocent-Blood Hearer
Before punishing, You warned,
You grieved, You marked Cain,
the wanderer and city-builder,
hearing even his undeserving plea.
Degenerate-Earth Griever, Flood Sender, Ark Giver
Before the rains fell to flood the earth
and all the fountains of the deep burst forth,
You sent a herald of righteousness
to proclaim faith through righteous preaching,
Gopher wood and pitch.
Jesus, Redeemer, Glorious One*
After you uttered, “It is finished,”
upon that Roman cross…
After You bore the Father’s righteous wrath
for all our sin…
After You “canceled out the debt
consisting of decrees against us”…
After “disarming the spiritual rulers and authorities,
You made a public display of them,”
just as Colossians 2 assures, and
You “led captive a host of captives,”
rising victoriously, extinguishing death’s sting,
and sin’s relentless bondage.
“Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory
through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Triune God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,
Fulfiller of Prophecy,
Lamb of God
There is no one in heaven or upon the earth
who compares with You.
You are the Good Shepherd
to all who call on Your Name in faith, Jesus;
for Your sheep know Your beloved voice,
and follow You all the way home.**
