Timeless Hope

A Christmas Reflection from Journey into Trust

A people, longing for generations, to see the Promised One Fragments, detailing His coming scattered like seams of gold throughout the ages

Truly, truly, the finest golden cord sewing the centuries together Surfacing, here and there, through the ancient prophets’ holy words, embroidering the faithful path home

“He shall crush (the serpent) on the head” Genesis 3:15 Yes, hope shimmers from the garden…

“The LORD will provide...In the mount of the LORD it will be provided. ….And in your seed the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.” Genesis 22:14 & 18

Hope shimmers through Abraham and Isaac on Mt. Moriah, foreshadowing the Messiah’s saving sacrifice, 2000 years before He comes.

“I see him, but not now, I behold him but not near; A star shall come forth from Jacob, And a scepter shall rise from Israel.” Numbers 24:17

Hope from “a man who saw the vision of the Almighty” more than 1000 years before the star appeared announcing Jesus’ birth to the Magi and the entire world.

“Therefore the LORD Himself will give you a sign: Behold a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel, which means God with us.” Isaiah 7:14

Hope’s golden cord resurfaces 700 years before Mary’s womb is graced with the sinless Savior’s presence.

“For a child shall be born to us, a son shall be given to us; and the government shall rest on His shoulders; and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

Hope rings forth again through Isaiah the Prophet, SEVEN CENTURIES before the Son of God became the Son of Man, clothing Himself in flesh so we could behold Him, believe in Him, and dwell in God’s presence forever.

“But as for you Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth from Me to be ruler in Israel, His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity.” Micah 5:2

Hope is given a birthplace through the prophet Micah, a parallel testimony with Isaiah’s, 700 years before there was no room in the inn.

Hope came as a babe, wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. Hope was hailed by angelic majesty, proclaiming “good news of a great joy that shall be for all the people.” Luke 2:10

The long awaited One, the Hope of the ages, the Hope of my soul, has been given from the bosom of the Father, the Creator of All, and sent to our needy hearts, every-one, the whole worldwide.

Will you receive Him?

Will you call on His Name, “the Lord our righteousness,” Jeremiah 23:6 and let HOPE set things right between you and God today?

Jesus, our Hope, is, and always will be, the anchor of our souls.

He has carried us, touching our hearts, lifting our heads.

Truly, truly, His cord of finest gold still surfaces, to be seen here and there, our whole lives long, shining forth the faithful path to Heaven’s open door.

For Dawn Hill, discovering her Heavenly Father’s daily gifts of joy, hope, beauty, and grace is what continually inspires her as a writer, wife, parent and friend. She has trudged through deep valleys, including 12 years contending for the health of her two children when Lyme disease and toxic mold illness threatened to strip life from both of them, and from her, too. Yet through it all, Dawn and her family, have been upheld by God’s sure Presence and His enduring promises. In the spring of 2023, just when God was moving the mountains for her kids, she discovered a small lump that has taken her on a whole new level of trusting her whole self to Jesus. With the self-proclaimed motto of “cancer is selfish, and I don’t want to be”, Dawn published her first devotional, titled Journey into Trust, to encourage others to see God’s faithfulness, be uplifted by His strength, and have their hope renewed no matter what they may be facing.
